Casual Biography: I am an Egyptian specialist in sales, hospitality & travel, 19 years of accumulated experience, working for the last years with one of the world’s luxury hotels companies; currently, the director of Global Distribution Sales – MEIA for the Shangri-La Hotels Group and prior to that 3 years with Kempinski Hotels S.A the Luxuries hotel Brand worldwide following a 10 years of Global Sales with IHG Hotels Group, based in Dubai whilst in charge of IMEA market including India subcontinent, Middle East, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market & Saudi market as a specialty. A proud Father/husband, enjoy lots of travel, have a great family, I love photography, reading, maintain an entrepreneurial spirit embedded with a solid sense of humour & always strive to do what is right.
Formal Biography: Sherif Omar, Director of Global Distribution Sales Office – MEIA – Shangri-La Hotels Group. handling the Global distribution & sales for the 103 hotels of Shangri-La Hotels worldwide from IMEA region. Sherif started his career in the travel industry between Egypt & Saudi Arabia, been appointed to work for 3 years (2004 – 2007) with GTA, the biggest wholesaler worldwide in functions of reservation, operation & business development management than joined by IHG since 2007 as the Key account manager for Saudi Arabia and in 2011, with his excellent work performance & passion to success, Sherif was promoted as Key Account Director, Global Sales Office – the Middle East & Africa and on 2016 joined the Kempinski Hotels S.A as the head of Global Sales team in the MEA region and on 2019 joined Shangri-La Hotels Group as head of Global Distribution & Sales team in IMEA region.
Specialities: My career path contains very strong travel, operation, business development, regional sales, global sales management experience, flavoured with strong business relationships, strong financial focus and responsibility, combined with many years of work experience residing in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates whilst travelled to the other key middle east countries e.g. Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman & Turkey for both business development & sales.
