Global Wedding Tourism Industry Update: March 2021
The global impact of the pandemic has been felt significantly in the wedding tourism industry. However love is not cancelled, weddings are taking place, just a little different moving forward.
Here is a global update from my associates at DWP Insider. The results are based on the market situation from over 60 countries and covering over 1000 wedding professionals.
57% of wedding planners believe the wedding industry will emerge bigger and brighter in the future.
Micro weddings are the future of 2021 weddings with 43% of planners organizing weddings of 50 to 100 guests
65% have restarted local weddings with 44 % restarting destination weddings.
50% of planners expect the domestic market to be the number one contributor to wedding recovery.
52% of couples are spending the most on décor and 62% of couples are cutting back on in person guest size.
Compared to the pre-pandemic times, 40% of the respondents have received at least 1-10 inquiries in the year 2020-2021. In the current year, this number has gone to 40+.
85% ranked number of attendees, safety protocols and SOP’s as top priority for the wedding
My goal as Chair of the Destination Wedding Interest Group for World Tourism Network is to inspire, network, and collaborate with planners globally as we move forward in this niche market. Looking forward to hearing from you!
